A socio-political group, Ubok Abasi campaign organization has tipped, Senator Bassey Albert as the only governorship aspirant that would bring prosperity back to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Spokesman for the organization, Dr. Usoro Usoro disclosed this to newsmen in Uyo, the state’s capital recently, while reacting to what the aspirant would offer the people if he eventually becomes the governor.
Dr. Usoro, who was Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Godswill Akpabio from 2007 to 2011 said, Senator Bassey Albert has an economic blueprint for the State.
According to him, “Senator Bassey Albert a. k. a. OBA has a blueprint that covers all the critical aspects of the economy.
“It may interest you to know that recently he gave Eket people his blueprint. He has a lot to bring to the table.
“People used to say that, you can learn how death is from sleep. And that talks about experience from the past to judge the future. If you look at Senator Bassey Albert’s pedigree; first as a banker who as a young man rose to become the Vice – President of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), I don’t think such a person is a push over”.
He explained that, when Senator Albert was appointed commissioner for finance, he (as Chief Press Secretary) coined the slogan “Uncommon Transformation” but, Senator Bassey Albert made it happened because, it was his job.
“It is one thing for a Governor to have a vision but, it is another thing for the commissioners to interpret the vision and actualize it”.
Dr. Usoro said, Senator Albert did that for Godswill Akpabio’s administration because, as finance commissioner and chairman, inter-ministerial direct labour projects he overseed over 6000 projects that were executed by the then administration.
“I believe someone like that can’t be said not to bring something to the table” adding that, his performance in the Senate, in terms of bills and motions, has saved Nigeria from so much wastages.
“Senator Albert is a governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who is experienced both on the executive and legislative sides and has a lot to bring to the table.
“For instance, on education alone, Senator Bassey Albert has given over 400 scholarships, and because of the conducive environment the scheme has provided, about 28 first class graduates and 221 second class upper graduates have been produced so far”.
He stated that, Senator Bassey Albert has good plans for the youth, the elderly, women and the entire Akwa Ibom people, noting that “he knows the problems of the people and identifies with them whether short, medium and long-term.”
Dr. Usoro charged the people especially, the youth to take destiny into their own hands, as hunger and poverty used as weapons to strangulate them would be a thing of the past under Senator Bassey Albert’s regime.
