PDP holds ‘victory rally’ in Bayelsa, August 25

Following the mass defections of over 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including chieftains and supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state last weekend, the PDP has announced plans to hold what it termed a ‘victory rally’  in Yenagoa, next Tuesday.

According to the party, the planned rally is aimed at re-establishing its stronghold in the state ahead of the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for December 5, in the state

A statement by the party’s Secretary, Hon Keku Godspower which was made public in Yenagoa, said the rally is also to celebrate the party resounding victory during the 2015 general elections.

The event which is scheduled to hold at the Samson Siasia Stadium, in Yenagoa, will be chaired by the National Chairman of the party and other members of the National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees (BoT) members and its supporters.

Others to grace the rally include state Governors; National Assembly   members; State Chairmen and members of the party across the state.

The Victory Rally , Keku  Godpower said, “will also serve the purpose of dedicating our victory to God and  provide  opportunity  for  the  leadership  of  the  Party  to  appreciate  its members and supporters in the state.”

Recently, supporters of the Governor Seriake Dickson-led Peoples Democratic Party PDP, including two former Acting Governors, Acting Speakers of the State Houses of Assembly, Party Chairman, Senators and commissioners decamped to the APC.

Among them include, Chairman, PDP, Col Sam Inokogba, former Managing Director NDDC, Timi Alaibe,  Hon Nestor Binabo, Hon Sebarugu Wereprieye and Senator Heineken  Lokpobiri, and others.
