SSANU alerts on FG’s plot to sack 2,000 varsity workers in January; threatens industrial action

Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Universities (SSANU), weekend, alerted that President Muhammadu Buhari has orderd the sack of 2,000 university workers across the country by next month, January 2016.
National President of the union, Mr. Samson Ugwoke, who disclosed this Saturday at a press briefing in the country’s capital, Abuja, further disclosed that, following the presidential directive, that the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission and the National Universities Commission (NUC) already have written letters terminating the appointment of the affected staff from 31 universities.
The SSANU President gave the Federal Government up to December 24, 2015 to reverse the decision or the union would embark on an indefinite strike over the issue.
