Nigerian-American defensive tackle Morotoluwa Ojomo, who won his first Super Bowl title after the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, is back in Nigeria and was hosted by President Bola Tinubu on Friday, February 28, 2025.
The meeting took place at the Presidential villa, Aso Rock, and was shared on the official social media accounts of the Presidency. The post included photos of Ojomo and his family with President Tinubu.
The message accompanying the pictures read, “President Bola Tinubu welcomed Morotoluwa Ojomo, Super Bowl Champion with the Philadelphia Eagles, led by Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in the State House on 28th February 2025.”
This visit follows a celebration from Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who also praised Ojomo’s Super Bowl victory.
President Tinubu acknowledged Ojomo’s roots in Lagos State before he moved abroad to pursue his football career.
Ojomo expressed his gratitude on social media, saying, “Grateful to be celebrated and welcomed by the President of my home country after winning the Super Bowl. Had a great conversation about the future of American football in Nigeria. Thank you for your time, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency.”
Despite leaving Nigeria years ago, Ojomo continues to proudly identify with his Nigerian heritage.
