Nestlé Cares Volunteers distribute food items to orphanages, NGOs across Nigeria as part of its Nestle Employee Orphanage outreach , July 24, 2019

No fewer than 200 Nestlé Nigeria volunteers have reached out to 18 orphanages and NGOs working with children across the country under the company’s Nestlé Cares initiative.
The volunteers on Wednesday visited the SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria, Isolo, Lagos.
The orphanage outreach is the second Nestlé Cares activity after the beach clean-up exercise carried out by Nestlé volunteers in June 2019.
Nestlé Cares is an employee-volunteering programme, which provides a platform for employees to give back to the society by donating their time and talents to make a positive impact on individuals, families, communities and the environment.
Mrs Victoria Uwadoka, Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager, said it was part of Nestlé’s efforts to support parents and caregivers on their journey to raise healthier kids through the Nestlé for Healthier Kids, global flagship initiative.
Uwadoka said the Nestlé for Healthier Kids aims to help 50 million children globally, lead healthier lives by 2030.
According to her, it will also help achieve its objectives by promoting good nutrition, encouraging active lifestyles through adequate physical activity, teaching good hygiene practices and healthy hydration.

Responding, Mr Gboyega Fadowole-Aje, the National Fund Development and Communication Coordinator, during the visit to the SOS Children’s Village in Isolo, Lagos, commended the Nestlé Cares Volunteers for the gesture.
“We are excited to have hosted kindhearted friends like Nestlé Nigeria Plc, who through their gifts and commitment today show their support.
“SOS Children’s Villages continues to be the world’s largest international non-governmental organisation focused on supporting children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care.
“Our continued support to children around the world, especially in Nigeria, is only possible through the support of corporate bodies and individuals that collaborate with us to ensure these children and young people have a future better than their past,” he said.
NAN reports that the highlights of the orphanage outreach included donation of food items and toiletries contributed by the volunteers and matched by the company.
Also, there was training of caregivers on good nutrition and hygiene practices, healthy hydration and the need for children to maintain active lifestyles.
Nestlé Cares is one of the ways Nestlé brings her purpose, enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future, and values to life.
