Without life, no other gift is possible By Fr. Peter Iwuala

How much do you value your life? How much does your life matter to you?

Life is the foundation upon which every other experience, emotion, and achievement rests. It is often taken for granted because it feels so basic, yet it is the most precious and irreplaceable gift we have. Without life, all other blessings—love, success, knowledge, or joy—would cease to hold meaning. Every moment of growth, every connection, and every dream depends on the simple fact of being alive.

To appreciate life is to recognize that existence itself is an opportunity. Even in moments of pain or struggle, life allows for change, learning, and renewal. It offers the chance to make choices, to express kindness, and to shape the world around us. When we understand that life is the source of all other gifts, gratitude becomes a natural response. We begin to value not just the extraordinary moments, but also the quiet, everyday ones—the sunrise, a shared smile, or the rhythm of our own heartbeat.

Ultimately, “without life, no other gift is possible” reminds us to cherish the present and nurture the gift we already hold. Life is not merely a condition we endure; it is the very essence that makes all beauty, meaning, and possibility real.

Do not take your life for granted, because it is a precious gift from above.
