Peter Obi, Alex Otti, Dakuku Peterside, other dignitaries grace burial of departed statesman, Chief Matthew Ajaero of Umuariam Obowo, Imo State
Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023, election, Mr. Peter Obi, Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti and former Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside were among an array of dignitaries who graced the burial of Elder Statesman and Community leader, Chief Matthew Ukanwoke Ajaero, in Umuariam Obowo, Imo State, last Saturday, June 3, 2023.
Other VIPs that turned out to honour the legendary father of many children, biological and otherwise, and it was, indeed, a fitting honour for a highly respected man of the people as every aspect of the funeral programme went without hitches and to the glory of God.
Chief Ajaero passed on to glory on October 9, 2022, aged 97, according to Okey Ajaero, for the family, and the celebration of his life and times included an outreach programme, Ochiriozuo Charity Day, Obowo, a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs, a Funeral Service and an Outing Service.
The special guests of honour, especially Mr. Peter Obi, Governor Alex Otti and Dr. Peterside were the cynosure of eyes, especially Mr. Obi and Dr. Otti whose political exploits, especially in the last general elections are still, literally speaking, legendary.
Chief Ajaero was a legend in his own rights, with all he achieved through dint of hard labour and unimpeachable integrity, and through direct and indirect mentorship, empowerment and sponsorship of a generation of then young people, some of who have today become institutions.
All the encomiums heaped on the departed Patriarch were very well deserved and his memory remains alive in the hearts of all who encountered him, directly or indirectly in his glorious sojourn here on earth.
Late Chief Matthew Ajaero was the husband of a gracious wife, late Ezinne Lolo Margaret Ajaero and they have several biological children, many relatives, friends and associates all over the world.
