Usen community rolls out drum to. celebrate Monarch at 10

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and the Ooni of Ife, Ogunwusi Adeyeye, are among several dignitaries expected to grace the 10th year anniversary of the Elawure of Usen, HRH Oluogbe 11.

The event according to the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Hon. Harrison Omagbon, will be used to correct the wrong impressions about the customs of the people.

Speaking at the palace of Elawure at Usen in Ovia South West local government area of Edo state, Hon. Omagbon said “It is not uncommon for people to maliciously attribute some unpleasant customs and behaviors to some people, settlements or tribes.

“In the same manner, Usen was ascribed some frightening spiritual and medicinal powers in the past.

“But time has proved that the people of Usen are not to be dreaded because they are friendly and civilised.

“The cultural display during the celebration will establish to the world that we are a jovial and very thankful people. We therefore invite everyone to come and be a part of the celebration,” he said.
