Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar on Monday swore in 16 Commissioners and 5 Special Advisers, warning them to demonstrate exemplary leadership and be steadfast and diligent.
Governor Abubakar gave the charge at the ceremony held at the Multipurpose hall Wunti Bauchi saying that the commissioners and aides appointment were chosen on merit and that their allegiance should rest with the people of Bauchi irrespective of ethnicity or status or religious background.
He said “we appointed people with impeccable character, and the choice is on merit, as the chief executives of your various ministries.
“I want to draw your attention to the fact that the State Executive Council is the highest body to make policy for the state. You should be above board in all your endeavors and concentrate on the assigned duties,” he charged the officials.
According to him, the Constitution has clearly defined the roles they are to perform, hence there is no room for indulgence, embezzlement or dishonesty.
He advised the newly appointed Commissioners and the civil servants in the state to observed the principles of equity, fairness and justice as watch words in the discharge of their official duties, while accountability and prudence should be their new resolve.
He also warned that he will not hesitate to sack any appointees found wanting, adding that they are called upon to serve not to spoil.
The newly appointed commissioners and special advisers alongside their portfoliosare: The Deputy Governor of Bauchi state, Engineer Nuhu Gidado, Commissioner of Education; Nasirudden Muhammad Esq, Finance and Economic Development; Ali Abubakar Tatari, Works, Lands and Housing; Ibrahim Yakubu Umar, LLB, Justice; Garba Sarki Muhd Akuyam, Rural Development and Community development; Abdullahi Mohd Edreess, Religious Affairs and Community Relations; Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi, State Planing Commission; Abubakar Gazali, Commerce, Industries and Co- operatives; Dr Yusuf Yakubu Mahmood, Agriculture; Baba Madugu, Information.
Others are Asabe Muhammad Hamma, Women Affairs; Sama’ila Muhammad, Local Government and Chieftaincy; Audi Gani Bogoro, Mines, Power, Energy and Environment; Dr. Halima Mukaddas, Health; Pharm. Ibrahim Madaki Saleh, Social Welfare, Youths and Sports; Muhammad Ghali Abdulhameed Katagum, Water Resources.
The Special Advisers are Engineer Abu Mamman, Special Duties; Brigadier Ladan Yusuf, Security; Air Commodore Tijjani Baba Gamawa rtd, General Services; Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, Media Communication and Engineer Shirajo Dada, Due Process.
