The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barrister Abdullahi Jalo has appealed to the National Leadership of the party to rescind its earlier decision and zone the 2019 Presidential ticket to the North-East geo-political zone for the sake of equity, justice and fairness.

Addressing a Press Conference in Gombe Wednesday, Jalo said what members of the party in the North-East want is the Presidential candidate ticket not Chairmanship ticket and that the southern part of the country should be given the chance to produce the National Chairman of the Party.

Jalo expressed optimism that the leadership of the Party will correct the mistake which zoned the position of National Chairman to North-East while the Presidential ticket went to the North-West.

He said “it will amount to hard battles and struggle if we allow the Presidential ticket to come from the North-West because President Muhammadu Buhari comes from that Zone and if he is successful and implements all his programmes, it will be the hardest task to defeat him”.

Jalo said he was in contact with politicians and PDP superior stakeholders in the South West and South East. He said, they are planning to meet and make their stand public which is, they want the seat of the National Chairman.

He said the North-East has only produced the Prime Minister of the country in the first republic, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Atiku Abubakar, who was the former Vice President during Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s eight year tenure. “It is now time for the North-East to produce the next President of Nigeria in the spirit of Justice and Fairness,” he said.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary also said he may dump the PDP if the party refused to correct the mistakes just as he thanked the leaders whom he said were taking bold steps to correct the mistakes.
