100days : Wike presents scorecard, pledges to reform partisan civil service

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his has started on a sound footing with quality achievements in the first one hundred days geared towards stimulating massive development in the state.
Also, the governor announced immediate reforms in the state civil service which will witness the appointment of new permanent secretaries and retirement of partisan permanent secretaries who are sabotaging his administration.
Addressing a Peoples Forum to mark his first 100days in office, Governor Wike noted that his administration has been anchored on transparency and accountability, pointing out that his administration through prudent management of resources did not collect any bailout funds from the Federal Government.
According to him : “We have marched our pronouncements with actions. We have restored dignity and independence to the Judiciary and the State Assembly. Even those who shut the courts have taken refuge in the courts”.
The governor noted that aside clearing backlog of salaries and pensions and the other entitlements of civil servants, his administration has commenced the monthly payment of overheads to mibistries, departments and agencies.
He noted that his massive construction and rehabilitation of roads are targeted at stimulating the state economy and empowering the ordinary people.
The governor said that his administration will ensure that every child irrespective of his/her background gets the best education. He noted that his administration has started the process of the total rehabilitation of 11 prominent schools in the state.
Governor Wike said his administration is fighting crime and criminality through legislation, adequate funding of security agencies and equipping of security agencies.
On insecurity caused by communal crisis, he said when two communities fight over land the state government will take over such land.
He said the state government has already completed a comprehensive insurance of two armoured helicopters paid for by the immediate past administration, noting that they will be flown to the state next week.
“We have provided leadership anchored on a clear direction of where the state should be in four years. We will create jobs and ultimately enhance our collective prosperity.
“This administration will promote technical and vocational education as well as develop commercial agriculture to create employment , Governor Wike said.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief BM Wifa commended Governor Wike for giving account to the people about the actions of his administration.
Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Mr Kenneth Kobani said that Governor Nyesom Wike has not only lived up to the expectations of the people, he has set the stage for greater achievements.
Highpoint of the event was an interactive session between the governor and key stakeholders of the state.
