2023 AFCON: Nigeria,14 other nations qualify after Matchday five (See all the qualified)

Matchday five games of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations – AFCON have been completed.

In summary, three-time African Champions, Nigeria, and 14 other countries have confirmed their qualification for the 2023 Cup of Nations.

The tournament will be hosted by Ivory Coast in January 2024. This follows a rescheduling from its initial summer kickoff in 2023.

Ivory Coast qualify for the tournament as hosts while defending Champions Senegal have confirmed their participation in the 2023 edition where they will be battling for a defence of the title won in 2021.

Others are Egypt, runners-up in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Algeria go through with a perfect record having won all five qualification games. Mali, Zambia and South Africa have also been fantastic to book their places on the train to Ivory Coast.

2022 FIFA World Cup Semi-finalists Morocco are in the mix despite losing their last game against South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast will be the 34th edition of the continent’s biggest football fiesta and a total of 24 teams will participate, the remaining nine to be decided after the final qualifying games in September.
