2023 Guber: Sokoto stands still for Dep Gov Dan ‘Iya as he storms party office

It was an unusual sight and a unique experience for many within Sokoto metropolis, Wednesday, as motorists felt the pains of gridlock following large crowds that enveloped the town in support of Hon Muhammad Manor Dan ‘Iya.

Dan’Iya, the Deputy Governor of the State, stormed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat located along Bello Way to formally notify party officials of his intention to succeed his principal, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

According to him, “I have come to meet the caucus and leadership of PDP in Sokoto to inform them officially about my intention to run for the office of the Governor of Sokoto State in the 2023 general elections.

“But first and foremost, let me thank Almighty Allah for this day, and also my Mentor the Governor Rt.Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR,(Mutawallen Sokoto) for giving me the support and courage to seek for this office. I will ever be grateful to him”.

Continuing in his speech, the Deputy Governor promised to run an all inclusive government, consolidate on the achievements so far recorded by Tambuwal and initiate more if given the mandate.

“As a team player who work hand in hand with my the governor, I am in a better position to step into his shoes, and I promise, if given the mandate, I will sustain all the legacy projects started by my boss, complete them and embark on new ones that our people desire.

“Also I will focus on education, health, agriculture, youth empowerment, economy, security, and of course run a welfare oriented government.

“My priority will be on new modern ways to govern, seek partnerships within and outside the state, and also harness the abundant mineral resources available in Sokoto for the overall benefit of all.  We will also explore new ways of revenue drive to boost our income”.

While urging the party caucaus to support his candidature, the Deputy Governor said he has sound vision and mission for the State.
