The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of road safety during the Easter celebration, saying motorists must drive defensively to ensure hitch-free celebration.

In a press release made available to the press by Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Oyeyemi stated this in his Easter message where he noted that Easter season is a critical period for the FRSC, as human and vehicular traffic across the country normally increase tremendously, thus posing serious challenges to the Corps in its efforts to create safer road environments.

The Corps Marshal appealed to motorists to abide by all traffic rules and regulations, noting that in anticipation of the heightened traffic movements across the country, FRSC has taken proactive measures by deploying adequate number of personnel and logistics at strategic locations.

“We flagged off this year’s Easter patrol during the launch of the Pan Nigerian Road Safety campaign recently. The focus of this year’s campaign is on speeding, overloading, seatbelt usage and use of mobile phone while driving. “We have deployed adequate number of our personnel and logistics at some identified black spots across the country to manage crash and obstructions during the celebration,” Oyeyemi stated.

“Let me congratulate the Christians on the Easter celebration. I also wish to assure all Nigerians that FRSC will continue to work hard to ensure that road environments remain safe throughout the period of the celebration and beyond,” he added.

Oyeyemi further assured that the FRSC Call Centre will remain open to receive distress calls, while all its Road Side Clinics, Zebra and Ambulance points across the country would remain open to assist in managing emergencies. He called on members of the public to immediately dial FRSC Toll-free number: 122 in case of emergencies.
