National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunna (JIBWIS), Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau has revealed that there are over 20 million beggars roaming the streets of Nigeria as a result of their inability to fend for themselves.
Sheikh Bala Lau gave this stunning revelation in an interview with Journalists in Gombe Monday while on a nationwide tour to see members and interact with them on the way forward out of the present harsh economic condition .
He said the Organization has already set up a strong five man National Committee under the Chairmanship of the Gombe State Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad, which will advice the organization on ways to sensitize members to embrace Agriculture and improve their livelihood through self reliance.
The National chairman who led a high powered delegation of Islamic clerics of the organization on the Gombe tour said “we don’t want our people to become beggars, we want them to be self reliant, everybody should go back to farm, we want our people to be comfortable and progress because without hard-work, we can’t progress.”
While at the palace of the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, Sheikh Bala enjoined the Emir to put heads together with religious leaders to move the nation forward as everything cannot be left to politicians alone and call them to order whenever they are going wrong.
Responding, the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakr, who described Sheikh Bala Lau as a lover of Gombe and the entire emirate, commended the leadership style of Bala Lau which he said, has moved the organization to enviable heights internationally. He promised to support and corporate with the organization in all areas of human development.
