NIDCOM boss, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, receives Honorary Doctorate Degree, Thursday, March 24, 2022



Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, will on Thursday, March 24, be awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree by the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria.
The conferment of the award on the highly decorated public officer will be part of the highlights of the 25th Convocation ceremony of the University.
The letter of nomination to Hon. Dabiri-Erewa, a former Member of the House of Representatives, was personally signed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ibiyemi I. Olatunji-Bello mni.
According to a statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocol of NIDCOM, Abuja, the letter said that the conferment of the Honorary Doctorate Degree on Hon. Dabiri-Erewa “is in recognition and appreciation of your immense contributions towards the development of the Lagos State University and by extension, Lagos state in particular.”
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa, a former ace newscaster and prominent television personality, was the Chair, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs for many years before she midwifed the setting up of NIDCOM.
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa has received more than 300 local and international awards for excellent and dedicated service to her home state, Lagos, to the Nigerian nation, to Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora and to humanity.
An alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, formerly University of Ife, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa has blazed an enviable trail in public service and the well-deserved honorary Doctorate degree award by LASU is another public acknowledgement and appreciation of the worthy legacies of the Amazon.
