New York, NY — August 2026

Africa Universities Fund (AUF), USA, in collaboration with Collins American International Academy, Owerri, Nigeria, has announced the launch of the AUF-Collins Future Skills Academy, a structured future-skills and career-readiness program for secondary school students from JSS1 through SS3.

The founding program will begin with JSS1 students at the Explorer level and progressively develop learners through six years of secondary education.

The JSS1 Explorer program will introduce students to information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital productivity, creative design, data literacy, project management, digital marketing, entrepreneurship and introductory software development.

Coursera learning will provide the program’s core technical content, while AUF’s and Collin’s educational frameworks and trained facilitators will help students understand, contextualize and apply their learning through practical activities and real-world projects.

Students will participate in two facilitated after-school sessions weekly and monthly Saturday Innovation Studios. Each learner will also develop a Career Portfolio containing projects, digital products, assessments, reflections, presentations and evidence of Coursera learning and credentials earned where applicable.

“We want African students prepared for the future before leaving secondary school, with the skills and confidence to compete in a technology-driven world,” said Chijike K. Ndukwu of AUF.

The Academy complements the regular school curriculum, guiding students from JSS1 exploration to career pathways and specialization through SS3, with Collins American International Academy as the founding school partner in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.

AUF invites secondary schools across Nigeria and Africa to partner in bringing Coursera-based future skills, industry learning, Innovation Studios, and career readiness to their students.

AUF is a New York-based nonprofit and Coursera Social Impact Partner in Africa, expanding access to global, future-ready learning. Collins American International Academy (CAIA) is an American-style school in Owerri, Nigeria, focused on academic excellence, innovation, and preparing students for a technology-driven future.
