Late Hon. Stanford Onyirimba: Madonna 77 classmates pay condolence visit; Burial program out

Some members of the Class of 1977 of Madonna High School, Ihitte, Imo State, in Nigeria have paid a condolence visit to the family of their departed classmate, High Chief (Dr) Rt Hon Stanford Onyirimba, a former Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly.

Sir Onyirimba, also a former Commissioner in the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ISOPADEC, passed onto glory recently and, according to a burial program, will be committed to mother earth in Ehime Mbano on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Among the delegates of Madonna 77 that went to commiserate with the widow, Mrs. Charity Chinyere Onyirimba and other relatives of the departed political leader are Hon. Chibututu Isiguzo, Chief Francis Uchechukwu Nwodu (Ambassador), Sir Mike Okonkwo (Comoco) and Chief Damian Igwe.

The class had earlier, in a statement by Chief (Sir) Chima Ugo, Chairman, Board of Trustees and Engr (Sir) Tony Nnorom, President of the Class, said that Hon. Onyirimba, a highly respected Knight of St. Christopher “was until his death, a very resourceful member of our class and indeed our proud point of reference for the contribution of our class to the political development of Nigeria.”

The statement, dated March 12, 2022, had stressed that High Chief Onyirimba, “served Imo State and humanity very diligently, becoming the majority leader of Imo State House of Assembly at the start of the present political dispensation in 1999,” and had noted that “though heart broken, we however give all glory to God for the productive life of Rt Hon. (Dr) Stanford and for the opportunity we had to be with him in life from 1973 when we were admitted to Madonna High School, Ihitte to when we left in 1977” and to when he transited to be with his maker.

The burial schedule of the Emeritus Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, which will start on Thursday, April 21, 2022, will include a ceremonial session of the Imo State House of Assembly for the lying-in state of his body within the Chambers of the Assembly, a Church Service at the Anglican Church of the Pentecost, Area H, New Owerri and a Service of Songs at his (Sir Onyirimba’s) Compound in Owerri same Thursday evening.

High Chief Onyirimba’s body will return to his country home on Friday, April 22, 2022 morning, for public viewing, a funeral and commendation Church Service at St Stephens Anglican Church Umuduruegwelle, interment and entertainment of guests who are expected to come for the program from all over the world.
