Former House Reps member promises prioritising youths, capital development, if elected

Hon. Rotimi Makinde

A member of the 7th National Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Makinde, has promised to prioritize youths’ issues and infrastructural development, if elected to represent Ife Federal Constituency again in the 2023 general election.

Makinde made the pledge at a Press Conference organised for his official declaration of ambition, on Tuesday at Toll Gate Area, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

He said that his agitation to be their representative would not be a do-or-die affair but charged politicians to eschew violence that can destroy lives and property, saying he cannot afford to lose any of his constituents.

Makinde added that the people of the constituency had jointly made a clarion call on him to represent them in the coming 10th Assembly because of the current challenges they are facing, like unfulfilled expectations, frustration, cluelessness of the incumbent and disillusionment, among others.

The politician maintained that his coming back to the office will unite his constituents and bring governance even closer to his people and would yield positive and fruitful change that would enhance their well-being.

He assured that he will fully represent all his constituents irrespective of tribe, religious background or political persuasion.

“There’s so much work to be done by way of legislation in many areas of our life including, but not limited to education, health, power, infrastructure and alleviation of poverty and socioeconomic empowerment,” he stressed.

The former member of the House of Representatives promised that if he is given the opportunity to be elected a second time, he would be his people’s voice, champion their cause and fulfill their hopes and aspirations.

“I have the requisite experience matched with wealth of knowledge to offer quality representation to my people and to facilitate Federal presence in my constituency with the primary aim of making life more abundant for my people socio-economically.

” I consider it a golden opportunity and a great chance to display my courage, rekindle my innovative instinct, showcase my character and turn the Great Ife’s dream into reality as a ranking Federal Lawmaker,” he assured.

He commended Gov Adegboyega Oyetola, for his unwavering support for him in all ramifications as well as congratulated Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged his support for the duo to succeed in their various offices.

Makinde also assured that he would maintain peaceful coexistence between the people of Ife and Modakeke and other local governments at home and abroad if he secure the position and would champion the settling of whatever disputes exist between the duo amicably so that no bloodshed would be witnessed again.

“Nigeria must and will be great again, no matter the vicious wishes of the opposition. With the prayer and support of all well-meaning citizens including the media, we will change this country for good.

“We will create a country that will truly be the pride of the Black race. APC will surely create a new Nigeria for all Nigerians. And I assure the people of Ife that a vote for me as their Representative at the National Assembly is a vote for positive and fruitful change for their well-being,” he emphasised.
