Embattled FIFA president, Sepp Blatter has formally denied allegations that he is corrupt, insisting he remains honest, just as he maintained that there was no corruption in the global football governing body.

The 78-year-old president, who will step down in February after criminal investigations were launched into world football’s governing body, said he decided to go in order to protect FIFA.

“I can protect myself. I am strong enough. I know what I have done, what I have not done. I have my conscience and I know I’m an honest man. I am clean.

“The institution is not corrupt. There is no corruption in football. There is corruption with individuals.”
