A former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Plateau, Mr Yohanna Margif, has picked the Labour Party (LP) ticket to contest the same position in 2023.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Margif was one of the 10 aspirants that bought the APC’s N50 million expression of interests/nomination forms before he left the party.
The governorship hopeful emerged unopposed in the Labour Party primary election held on Thursday, in Jos.
All the 85 delegates, five each from the 17 local governments of the state, unanimously affirmed Margif as the party’s candidate.
LP National Chairman, Mr Julius Abure, who doubled as the Primary Election Committee chairman, said the party would liberate the masses from the poverty that the parties that led the country in the past subjected Nigerians to.
Abure, who was represented by Mr Joseph Ndirang, said that the LP “manifesto focuses on education, health, security, economy and the welfare of Nigerian workers”.
According to him, Margif has the quality and credibility to actualise the party’s manifesto.
The LP Plateau governorship candidate, in his remarks, said that he was convinced that he would be the next governor of Plateau after Lalong.
Margif urged LP members to work together for the success of the party in the election come 2023.
“I promise never to waiver or fail. I promise to energise and mobilise our teeming supporters in the next phase of the struggle.
“I put myself to the task knowing full well that the foundation laid by our founding fathers must never be destroyed but built upon,” he said.
Plateau LP Chairman,  Mrs Grace Zamfara, promised that the party would work with the people to ensure that Margif is elected   governor in 2023.
