Buhari, Uzodimma condole with Thisday Publisher, Nduka Obaigbena, over loss of mum

President Muhammadu Buhari and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma have sent their condolences to the Royal Palace of the Obi of Owa Kingdom in Delta State and Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman of Thisday Newspapers and the Arise Group of Companies on the death of Princess Margaret Obaigbena, nee Usifoh, at the age of 88.

In his message by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) to Prince Obaigbena, President Buhari described the Publisher’s late mother, the late Princess Margaret, as a pillar of strength for the family, an accomplished mother and revered community leader, whose absence will be felt far beyond her immediate environment.

Noting that the demise of Princess Margaret will create a great vacuum in the community, the President urged the family to take solace in the understanding that she lived her passion by caring for the distressed and disadvantaged. He also eulogised her steadfast disposition to servicing mankind, beginning early in life and reaching the peak of the nursing profession, channelling her energy and resources to the realisation of lofty convictions.

President Buhari condoled with the government and people of Edo and Delta States on the loss of the illustrious citizen who contributed immensely to the development of the two states, stressing that her role as Special Adviser to three Governors of Delta State will remain indelible in the annals of the State.

The President prayed that God Almighty grants her soul eternal rest.

In a statement by Oguwike Nwachuku, his Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Governor Uzodimma said the government and people of Imo State share in Prince Nduka Obaigbena’s loss, particularly at a time like this when her mother’s wise counsel was needed most in the country.

Governor Uzodimma said that Princess Margaret Obaiegbena’s contribution to her community, state and country, using her nursing profession, is something that ought to be emulated, noting that it was by dint of hard work, discipline and her belief in God that Mama was able to get to the pinnacle of her profession and even surpass it.

The Governor said it was therefore not surprising that three governors found Princess Margaret Obaiegbena worthy of Service as Special Adviser, a position he said she merited based on her outstanding career in the nursing profession.

Governor Uzodimma further urged the Obaiegbenas to take solace in the fact that their matriarch left a legacy of an astute community leader, devout Christian mother, dependable politician and committed family woman of which many people will bear witness.

The Imo State governor maintained that there is no other mirror to assess Princess Margaret Obaiegbena’s contribution to the wellbeing of the society other than her surviving six children, many grand and great grandchildren, all of who are making positive impact in the society, nationally and globally in their chosen careers, vocations and callings.

He therefore consoled all those Princess Margaret Obaiegbena has left behind to mourn her passing, particularly the Royal Family of Owa Kingdom and the Government and people of Delta State, and prayed God to grant them the fortitude and grace to bear the loss.
