Two specialised surgery centres have commenced operations in Ethiopia.
The centres will allow surgeons receive training in performing procedures using robotic surgical systems and endoscopic technologies.
A report by TV BRICS, a partner of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) says President Taye Atske-Selassie of Ethiopia confirmed this while attending the opening ceremony.
He stated that the introduction of advanced medical technologies is a key priority for the country and has a direct impact on improving public health.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai emphasised that cooperation between China and African countries in the healthcare sector continues to expand.
Chen said that the parties intend to strengthen collaboration in specialist training and knowledge exchange.
The China-Africa Robotic Surgery Training Centre and the China-Africa Endoscopic Technology Training Centre are expected to improve the quality of medical care and expand patients’ access to advanced healthcare technologies.
