
Knights Football Academy, Ile-Ife has defeated Alo Football Academy Modakeke at the Omoworare U-15 football tournament organized by Senator Babajide Omoworare at the newly built Ife City Stadium, Erefe, Ile-Ife.
The match, which ended 1-1 at regulation time, was decided by spot-kick.
At the sport-kick (penalty) stage, Knights Football Academy scored four while Alo Football Academy netted three, thus Knights won on five goals to four aggregate.
Sen. Omoworare, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, who organised the football tournament, thanked God for the opportunity given him to serve his constituents.
He emphasised, more importantly, the support which he received that made the completion of the Stadium a reality.
“The idea behind this Stadium is to encourage raw talents to be discovered so they can be nurtured to World Class stars.
“Who knows tomorrow, the young lad playing here can be anything in the future.
“During our young days in Ife, we had access to standard football pitch at Catholic Technical College (CATECO), Lagere, Ife where we played but as at now, there is none,” he noted.
According to him, everyone knows that Sports is essential in human lives.
In the third-place match, Obokun Football Academy defeated Success Football Academy by two goals to one.
The highest goal scorer award was given to Tomiwa Awosiyan with four goals; the best goalkeeper award was given to Chidiebere Agwu; the Most Valuable Player award went to Adura Adeyera while the Best Coach Award was given to Mr. Ogunyemi.
Eight teams – Excel Football Academy; Success Football Academy; Successful Football Academy; Prime Star Football Academy; Obokun Football Academy, Alo Football Academy, PJT Football Academy and Knights Football Academy competed in the U-15 football tournament which Knights Football Academy won.
