England-based footballer, Taiwo Awoniyi, foots medical bills of needy patients at Ilorin Hospital

England based Nigerian footballer Taiwo Awoniyi who is Nigeria for holidays after a successful 2022/2023 football season has feted the medical bills of patients in his hometown Illorin.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Nothingham Forest of England striker, on Thursday June 8, 2023 visited the Ilorin General Hospital to make cash donations to the patients who had difficulties assessing funds for their medical bills.

The striker after receiving briefs from the medical officer on duty about the various needy patients stuck in the hospital decided to intervene in some cases.

In the case of a woman who needed a complete dose of a particular injection at a cost N107,000 per dose, the striker paid for the remaining four doses.

A parent who struggled to afford N5000 for the purchase of oxygen for one of her children received over N100,000 from the former Liverpool forward while two aged patients received N100,000 cash donations.

Awoniyi made to share cash stuck envelopes to different patients at the hospital.

In the just concluded season, Awoniyi was messiah for sinking Nottingham Forest, scoring six goals in the last four matches to ensure top-flight safety for Steve Copper’s men in the English Premier League.
