Operation Safe Haven rescues two kidnap victims in Plateau State

Patrolling troops of Operation Safe Haven in Plateau State successfully rescued two kidnap victims, Abdul Bello and Mrs. Sekyen Bello, along the Jos-Abuja highway. The interception took place at Mararaba Jamaa community in Jos South Local Government Area, with the kidnappers fleeing into the bush upon encountering the troops.

Major Nantip Zakhom, spokesperson for the Operation, confirmed the incident, stating that troops responded promptly to a distress call regarding kidnapping activities. The victims, Mr. Abdul Bello and Miss Sekyen Melody Yapshak, were rescued from a brown Peugeot vehicle after a thorough search operation in the surrounding bushes.

Following their rescue, the victims were taken to the Police College Clinic in Jos for a medical examination, while the vehicle was secured at the troops’ location for further investigation.

Zakhom reiterated Operation Safe Haven’s commitment to addressing security challenges in the state and assured residents that efforts were underway to apprehend the perpetrators of the kidnapping and other criminal activities. His words: “Troops deployed at Bisichi swiftly responded to a distress call regarding kidnapping activities. Upon arrival, they encountered a brown Peugeot vehicle.

“The troops conducted a thorough search operation in the surrounding bushes and successfully rescued the vehicle owner, Mr. Abdul Bello, and another lady identified as Miss Sekyen Melody Yapshak, who had been kidnapped from her parents’ residence around the Nigeria Police College.”
