Prof Olu Obafemi Colloquium holds in Lokoja, Monday, October 13, 2025

The Federal University Lokoja, Nigeria, in collaboration with its Department of English and Literary Studies will on Monday, October 13, 2025, again, celebrate Emeritus Professor Olu Obafemi.
A notice by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwumi, said that on that day, the 3rd Annual Colloquium in honour of the multiple award winning Professor of English and Dramatic Literature, who is also an accomplished playwright, poet, novelist, translator, newspaper columnist and literary scholar, will hold at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Felele Campus of the institution.
Starting at 10:00am, the Colloquium, which is expected to attract top academics, political leaders, traditional rulers and other dignitaries from far and near, has as its theme, “Olu Obafemi and the African Indigenous Knowledge Systems (AIKS).”
Prof. Obafemi, a Nigerian National Merit Award winner and former President and Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), is also a Fellow and former President of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), a Fellow of the Nigerian English Studies Association, and a Fellow of the Society of Nigerian Theatre Artists.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) (Hons) degree in English from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, a Master of Arts (M.A) in English (Sheffield) and a Ph.D. English with specialization in Dramatic Literature from the University of Leeds, England.
