Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, were crowned West Africa’s new champions after a commanding 3–0 victory over Ghana’s Black Princesses at the Stade Omnisports d’Adjohoun on Tuesday.
The Falconets delivered a superb performance led by their brilliant attacking trio.
Janet Akekoromowei opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a stunning long-range free-kick.
Six minutes later, Alaba Olabiyi doubled Nigeria’s lead after connecting perfectly with a headed assist, leaving Ghana struggling to respond.
Ramotalahi Kareem sealed the win in the 60th minute, calmly finishing off a cross from Akekoromowei to complete the rout and join her as joint top scorer of the tournament.
The result secured Nigeria’s first-ever WAFU B U20 Girls Cup title, avenging their penalty shootout loss to Ghana in the inaugural final two years ago.
With nine points from three matches, the Falconets claimed the title with a game to spare.
Head coach Moses Aduku will now shift focus to preparing the team for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Senegal in February.
