Tinubu approves settlement of Super Eagles, Super Falcons, D’Tigress’ rewards

Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko, has confirmed that the long-awaited rewards for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Super Falcons and D’Tigress have been fully approved by President Tinubu and is being processed.

The Super Falcons and D’Tigress are to be rewarded for winning their respective African competitions, while the Super Eagles will be honoured for finishing as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Dikko gave the confirmation on Friday during a television interview, where he explained that the rewards include houses, land, national honours and cash incentives.

He said that President Tinubu has already approved the houses, land and national honours for the Super Eagles, as well as the financial rewards for the Super Falcons, adding that all approvals have been completed.

The NSC chairman also disclosed that all documents for the housing rewards have been secured, including the Certificates of Occupancy for houses in Lagos and Abuja for players of the Super Eagles, Super Falcons and D’Tigress.

According to him, the national honours have also been finalised, while payment of the cash rewards is at an advanced stage and currently being processed by the relevant government office.

The confirmation is expected to bring relief to the athletes and sports stakeholders who have been waiting for the fulfilment of the promised rewards following the teams’ outstanding performances for the country.
