Save Nigeria Group USA commends Trump for action against terror groups in Nigeria

The Save Nigeria Group (SNG) USA has hailed United States President Donald Trump for what it described as decisive action to address insecurity in Nigeria.

In a statement issued in Washington, D.C., on December 26, 2025, the group commended the President Trump-ordered military airstrikes against ISIS targets in north-west Nigeria on Christmas Day. According to the organisation, the action was aimed at protecting Christians and other vulnerable communities affected by violence.

Save Nigeria Group USA said the intervention followed months of advocacy, including a rally held in Washington where Nigerians in the diaspora appealed to the U.S. government to take action against armed groups operating in parts of Nigeria.

The group described the reported strikes as a major step in the fight against terrorism in Africa and said they showed strong international support for the protection of civilian lives. It also announced that it had nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing what it called his leadership and commitment to peace.

However, the organisation said more work is still needed. It called on the United States to expand its efforts against armed groups in Nigeria, including ISIS-linked factions, Boko Haram, splinter groups and Fulani militia groups, which it accused of carrying out attacks in parts of the Middle Belt.

Save Nigeria Group USA also commended the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for working with international partners to improve security. It further praised Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for granting a pardon to Sunday Jackson, describing the move as an act of justice and compassion.

The group ended its statement by calling on Nigerians at home and abroad to pray for peace, unity and an end to violence in the country.
