APC unveils nomination fees, timetable for 2027 primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the official fees for its nomination forms and announced a full timetable for its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Under the new structure, aspirants for the State House of Assembly will pay N1 million for the expression of interest form and N4 million for the nomination form, bringing the total cost to N5 million.

For the House of Representatives, the expression of interest form is fixed at N1 million, while the nomination form costs N9 million, making a total of N10 million.

Senate aspirants will pay N3 million for expression of interest and N17 million for nomination forms, amounting to N20 million.

Governorship hopefuls are to pay N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination forms, bringing the total to N50 million.

For the presidential race, aspirants will pay N30 million for the expression of interest form and N70 million for the nomination form, making a total of N100 million.

The party also outlined key dates and activities for the primaries. The notice of election to state chapters will be issued on April 20, 2026.

The sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2 at the party’s National Secretariat, while the deadline for submission of completed forms is May 4.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 9 and May 10, with the publication of results set for May 13. Appeals arising from the screening will be handled between May 14 and May 25.

Primary elections will begin with the State House of Assembly on May 16, followed by the governorship primaries on May 18.

The House of Representatives primaries will take place on May 20, while the Senate primaries are fixed for May 22.

The presidential primary is scheduled for May 25, which will bring the process to a close.

The APC said the timetable is aimed at ensuring an orderly and credible selection of candidates as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace.
