Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has said that all Government Day secondary schools in the state will be opened on Monday, November 23, 2015 for normal school activates.

Governor Kashim Shettima disclosed this Tuesday, when he received a delegation led by Norwegian Ambassador Mr. Rolf Ree at the Government House in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Shettima said: “we are going to re-open all Day secondary schools across the state on Monday 23rd November 2015 for normal academic activates to commence.”

While commending the Government and people of Norway, Governor Kashim Shettima said that Norway was the first country to donate $4 million for the safe school initiative in Nigerian, hence the need to break the news of re-opening the schools at the instance of Ambassador.

The governor said Norway is at the fore front of supporting the government and the people of Nigeria and Borno in particular, more especially by supporting the “Safe School Initiative”.

It could be recall that government schools in Borno state have remained closed since May 16,  shortly after the abduction of over 200 school girls from Government Girls Secondary School Chibok.

Earlier, the Norwegian Ambassador, Mr. Rolf Reen said they were in the state to see how they can assist the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), as peace is gradually returning to their communities.

“We are in the state to show sympathy and support to those displaced by the insurgency in the state and also to see how we can support you in rebuilding the destroyed communities,” the Ambassador stated.
