Abia State-born Architect Iheanacho Samuel Ukwu passes on in the US at 80; Wake-Keep holds in Long Island, New York
Architect Iheanacho Samuel Ukwu from Ovim, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, in Abia State, Nigeria, has passed on to glory at the age of 80.
A notice by the family, endorsed by Ezinne Ukwu and Udodirim Ukwu, said that the highly respected statesman passed on to eternal glory on March 17, 2026 in Long Island, New York, United States of America (USA).
Fondly called Acho by close family members, friends and associates, he was a man of the people, and attended Methodist College Uzuakoli, Abia State before proceeding for higher studies and earning his degree in Architecture.
He dedicated his life to the service of community and humanity. He was, for instance, a foremost champion of efforts to establish the legendary Ovim Students Union, and was also instrumental to the formation of the Diaspora Ovim Community Development Union.
In his honor, a Wake-Keep program will hold at 100 Western Concourse Amityville, New York on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 7:00PM to 11:00PM.
He is survived by his wife, Nnenaya Ukwu and two children, Ezinne Ukwu and Udodirim Ukwu as well as by a host of other relatives and friends.
The departed patriarch is being mourned by many, in Nigeria, across the United States and far beyond, who he impacted positively in the course of his earthly sojourn.
