NIDEC 2026: Gbajabiamila to lead FG delegation of Ministers, Governors, others to Canada
ABUJA, AUG. 6, 2026:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sending a high- powered delegation led by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to the first- ever Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NIDEC) holding in Canada.
The Conference with the theme “INVEST NIGERIA, THRIVE ABROAD” will be holding between August 12 to 15, 2026 in Toronto, Canada.
A statement by the Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abdur-Rahman Balogun, stated that Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Commission said that the high-level Government delegation to the Conference shows the President’s commitment to promoting trade, investment and economic cooperation between Nigeria and Canada.
This Conference is designed not only as a high-level outcome driven investment platform but will also serve as a shared commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral economic relations.
Others in the delegation include Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Trade & Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Governors of Anambra State Prof. Charles Soludo, Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani, Plateau State, Caleb Mulfwang and Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.
Others on the delegation are Sen. Ita Enang, Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Representatives of Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), the Central Bank of Nigeria as well as Executive Secretary, Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Aisha Rimi, Executive Director, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Nonye Ayeni, and Director General, National Information, Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
The high-powered delegation from Canada will include Hon. Shafqat Ali, President of the Treasury Board of Canada, Hon. Graham McGregor, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, Hon. Deepak Anand,
Member of Ontario Provincial Parliament, Mississauga-Malton, His Worship-Mayor Patrick Brown, City of Brampton. CLR Rod Power, City of Brampton and Hon. Chairman’s Williams, Ontario Minister of Women and Economic Opportunities, among others.
The NIDEC Conference is organised by NiDCOM in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, the Canadian High Commission in Abuja and major national and international stakeholders.
The Investment Conference serves as a definitive bridge connecting global leaders to “investment ready” opportunities back home with focus on high impact sectors that are the engines of Nigeria’s future growth and development.
