Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has congratulated governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State over his reelection.
Tambuwal, Speaker of the 7th National Assembly, immediate past governor of Sokoto State, and now a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) said the outcome of Osun’s governorship election shows how determined the people were in defence of democracy.
The Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, in a congratulatory message posted on his X account (formally twitter) maintained that Adeleke’s renewed mandate demonstrated the power of the electorate to determine their leadership through the ballot.
The federal lawmaker said: “This victory is not only a personal triumph for Governor Adeleke; it is a victory for democracy and, above all, a victory for the people of Osun State, who have once again exercised their constitutional right to determine who leads them.”
Speaking to the lessons learnt from the Osun election, Tambuwal said, the ballot is still one of the most powerful instruments available to citizens in a democracy, noting that respect for the choices freely expressed by voters strengthens democratic institutions and deepens public confidence in the electoral process.
“The ballot remains the most powerful expression of the will of the people in a democracy. When citizens freely make their choice and that choice is respected, our democratic institutions are strengthened and public confidence in the electoral process is deepened,” Tambuwal opined.
While commending the entire people of Osun State for their participation and commitment to the democratic process, Tambuwal said the outcome has proven that, Governor Adeleke has earned the confidence of his people hence the support for his second term in office.
Giving his advise to the reelected governor, Senator Tambuwal said he should note that renewed mandate comes with even greater responsibility, hence urging him to embrace inclusivity and serve every citizen of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation.
“As he prepares to continue the work of governance, I urge him to see this renewed mandate as an even greater responsibility to serve all the people of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation,” Tambuwal advised.
Tambuwal further prayed God to grant governor Adeleke wisdom, strength and success as he continues to lead the state and serve its people.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency. Congratulations to the people of Osun State. Democracy has won,” Tambuwal enthused.
