Ruth Kadiri reveals fear of marriage influenced decision to keep union private

Nollywood actress and producer, Ruth Kadiri, has revealed that her fear and uncertainty about marriage influenced her decision to keep her union private during its early years.

Kadiri made this known during a recent episode of the Dear Ife podcast, where she explained that she was uncertain about whether her marriage would work out and preferred to keep the relationship away from public attention.

The actress said she had a “phobia of marriage” and was concerned about making a decision that could eventually fail.

“I had a phobia of marriage. I was battling with the fear of the unknown and asking myself, ‘Am I going to make this decision and everything will now scatter?’ So, I wasn’t really ready to have a public marriage, and my husband was okay with it,” she said.

Kadiri said her husband, Mr Ezerika, supported her decision to keep their marriage private and agreed to a small wedding attended by about 50 people.

She explained that both of them invited 25 guests each because she wanted to avoid unnecessary attention and drama surrounding their relationship.

“Also, I didn’t want a lot of drama regarding my relationship. That’s why my husband and I invited only 50 people to our wedding. Twenty-five people were invited by him, while 25 others were invited by me,” Kadiri said.

The actress added that she might have opted for an even simpler ceremony if she had been living abroad.

“If I were abroad, I guess we would have just probably walked to the registry and gotten married,” she said.

Kadiri and Ezerika got married in a private ceremony in November 2018.

The couple welcomed their first daughter in August 2019 and their second daughter in July 2022.
