Manchester United Captain Bruno Fernandes scored a Hat-trick in his club’s 5-2 thrashing of Ipswich at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Portuguese, who was recently named PFA player of the year for his last season’s performance, gave another outstanding performance as he inspired his side to a 5-2 victory at home.

United who lost their opening game away to Hull City last weekend, fell behind in the 29th minute when Davis scored the opener for newly promoted Ipswich.

United restored parity when a slip by Ipswich’s Marcelino Nunez allowed Matheus Cunha to send a through ball to Fernandes who powered a shot home in the 40th minute.

Harry Maguire’s shot was turned into goal by Greaves in the 56 minute to give United the lead.

Fernandes converted a spot kick two minutes later and added a third when a deflected shot fell for him in the box.

The 31-year old also assisted United’s fifth goal, finding Bryan Mbeumo to with a superb through ball to lob the goalkeeper. Chuba Akpom scored Ipswich’s second.

Fernandes hat-trick is his second for United in the Premier League, his first came in United’s opening home match against Leads five years ago.

Manager Michael Carrick said Fernandes means a lot to his team.

“He means a lot. He’s been here for a good number of years now. He’s experienced a whole load of different emotions and different things,” Carrick said.

“He’s got a lot of experience now to pass on to others and show them the way a little bit and lead by example and help them in different moments, and times like today, when you’re looking towards certain players to give us that little bit of something else — he did that today particularly well,” he added.
