Atiku flags off campaign in Sokoto, says 2023 rigging can’t repeat itself in 2027

By Ankeli Emmanuel, Sokoto

The 2027 Presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wednesday while flagging off his campaign in Sokoto reassured Nigerians that it wouldn’t be possible for the 2027 election to be rigged.

Addressing a mammoth crowd outside the State Party Office in Sokoto, Atiku reassured Nigerians of restoring fuel subsidy, reopening all land borders to fastrack legitimate businesses and ensuring an end to the disturbing insecurity ravaging Nigeria and Nigerians.

According to Atiku, if elected in 2027, his administration would restore security in every part of the country, return fuel subsidy to cushion the hardship on Nigerians and reopen the borders with neighbouring countries, particularly in the North.

While stressing that the ADC led government will ensure total security and economic recovery, Atiku said
“One of our promises is to make sure that security is restored in every part of this country. Secondly, we will ensure that our borders are open to legitimate trade with our partners because we are all on the same side. All our families are inter-connected.

“We are also promising to return wealth to the people, to all the people, to everybody in this country,” he stressed.

Lashing out at the Sokoto State government, Atiku said they made all efforts to truncate the campaign flag off but God’s grace and the resolution of Nigerans have made it a huge success.

“The state government never wanted this event to hold, but by the grace of God, we are here today. This is a great party and a great force in West Africa”.

Speaking further, the former vice president appealed to Nigerians to come out en masse during the 2027 general elections, cast their votes and protect same from the polling units to the collation centers and final point of announcement, adding that the ADC will not allow what happened in the last elections to repeat itself.

“I appeal to all our supporters to come out and vote. Vote massively and protect your votes and make sure your vote is counted and announced. We will not allow what happened in the last elections to happen anymore,” he added.

Earlier, National Chairman of the ADC, Sen. David Mark, said the mammoth crowd that welcomed them from the airport to the campaign venue was a testament to the fact that Nigerians are desperate to vote out the APC led government which had done nothing other than increase pains, insecurity and hopelessness.

“When I saw the mammoth crowd from the airport to this venue. I began to ask myself, ordinarily, it should not be more than a 20 minutes’ drive from the airport to the town but because of the crowd we ended up spending almost four good hours to reach the campaign venue.

“Honestly, if I were in government, I would also be afraid with this number of supporters.

“The crowd has shown clearly that Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and our governorship candidate, Hon. Manir Dan’Iya are sincerely loved by the people of the state and by God’s grace we will not only win Nigeria but also Sokoto.”

The flag-off, which held amid heavy security, was attended by former governor of Sokoto State, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Sen. Abdul Ahmed Ningi, ADC governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, and other national leaders of the coalition.
