20 foreigners, 10 states to storm 2015 Benin Int’l Chess Open championship

AGENE GODWIN, Benin

All is now set for the 2015 Benin International Chess Open championship as over twenty foreign chess players and those from ten states in the country have already arrived Benin City, the Edo state capital for the event.

The Championship which will hold at the Indoor Halls of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th December 2015 attracts various prizes which range from N100, 000 to N300, 000.

Meanwhile, the venue of the chess championships is wearing a new look, as decorations inside and outside the Indoor Halls have given the stadium vicinity a wonderful appearance.

Business activities have also picked up around the Stadium road and its environs.

Chairman of the Edo State Sports Council, Hon. Harrison Omagbon, said the various championship hosted by the sports council has led to increase in business activities at the stadium and its environs.

He said more championships will be hosted by the Council in 2016.
