Imo State to make 40 indigenes millionaires in two months

Imo State Government is set to make (40) forty indigenes millionaires in the next two months as part of the activities marking the 40th anniversary of the State. Imo State was created on 17th March 1976 under the leadership of late military ruler, Gen. Murtala Muhammed.

Governor Rochas Okorocha who announced this gesture, on Wednesday, at a press briefing in Owerri, the State capital, said the millionaires would emerge through lottery. He remarked that at 40 the State was getting better and had every justification to celebrate.

He expressed gratitude to God for this development adding that henceforth the state’s anniversary would be marked annually as it was in other climes.

He said that the legal frame work for this annual celebration was already with the state lawmakers and that other highlights of the anniversary would be disclosed by the Commissioner for Information later.

The Governor, who just returned from a working vacation overseas, said that the government signed an agreement with the Vietnamese government for some agricultural programmes including the setting up of a fertilizer plant at Ohaji Egbuma Local Government Area of the State.

Owelle also disclosed that his trip to China might resurrect the establishment of the Oak Refinery, proposed by his predecessor, even as he added that the state also wooed the Chinese entrepreneurs to participate in the concessionary programme of his government, especially the medical projects.

He stressed that there was no going back on the concessionary programmes as the decision was in the best interest of the State.

Saying that already, the Imo Concorde Hotel and Ochiedike Dialysis Centre concessioned, were yielding dividends to the state, he urged all to support the programme.
