According to Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the Information officer, NEMA North-East Zone, the items are meant to cater for IDPs with special needs like diabetes patients, babies and nursing mothers.
The food items distributed to the camps include cerelac formula for babies, milk, biscuits, cereals, Milo, wheat, Hungary rice, soya plus, kunun tsamiya, etc while the non food items distributed include slippers, blankets, plates, spoons, vaseline, soap, detergents and dignity kits for lactating mothers.
This distribution is not withstanding the memorandum of understanding signed by the Agency and Borno state government where NEMA supplies all food items to be prepared in camps while the state government provides condiments and other necessities for cooking the food.
