Akwa Ibom State’s former Governors and their Deputies have congratulated Gov. Udom Emmanuel over his recent victory at the Supreme Court, wishing him a successful and peaceful tenure in office.

The former Governors and their Deputies, in their congratulatory and goodwill message to Governor Emmanuel, which was made available to Global Patriot Newspapers, stated that, “It is quite a relief that the Supreme Court has at last given a final determination in your favour regarding your election. With this confirmation of your mandate we bring you our best wishes for a successful and peaceful tenure in office.

“So far, by your demonstration that decorum and not impunity should guide and regulate our affairs, you are already on the right path. By affirming your desire to create employment and engage our people, you have inspired hope. By constantly reiterating your emphasis on industrialization and not indecent and selective demonstration of patronages to loyalists, you have made a bold statement.

“Let the task of reconciliation and putting back our people together be considered one of your most urgent tasks ahead, towards achievement of these goals.

“We hereby assure you of our full cooperation and support towards the realization of your goals. May God bless you and your family as you carry out this onerous task.”

Obong Victor Attah, hitherto a strong supporter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the governorship election, affirmed the letter in a telephone conversation with this reporter, and commended Governor Emmanuel for his policy of industrializing the state to create wealth and employment for the people, encouraging that more of such should be done.

Others who also signed the letter are Sir Etim Okpoyo, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong, Sir Michael Udofia, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu and Mrs. Valerie Ebe.
