Members and supporters of the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been assured of the readiness of the party to take over power in the state come November this year.
Chief Sergeant Awuse, chairman of the Panel which conducted the congress in Benin City, Edo state gave the assurance yesterday during the congress that ushered in new State Executive Committee (SEC).
During the congress, the former state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih was re-elected unopposed while Chief Felix Imoisili and Dr. Mandy Israel Aguele were elected as Secretary and Treasurer respectively in the 31-man state executive.
Continuing, Chief Awuse said PDP in Edo has been patient for eight years under APC, adding however that to achieve this, the party needed to fill the Edo Government House.
According to Awuse, “the PDP need Edo to complete the circle in the south-south because the region is the foundation of PDP and there is need to reclaim Edo.
The APC, he stressed is not ready to govern but to witch-hunt those they want to cage, noting that Nigerians can attest to the programmes of the PDP when they were in power.
“I am sure that if election is conducted today, the PDP will speak differently because they now know the difference between when PDP was in power and now that APC is ruling”, Awuse pointed out.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman on behalf of his executive thanked delegates for making the right decision to elect them and promised not to let them down.
He said the election came at a critical moment in the history of the state because to win and form a government is a task that must be done.
According to him, the task has been made easy by the continued failure of Adams Oshiomhole led APC government.
