Benue State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding on Information and Communication Technology, ICT, with an indigenous company,JM Technologies Nigeria Limited.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr.Michael Gusa, signed on behalf of the state government while the Managing Director of JM Technologies, Engineer Michael Idu signed on behalf of his company.
Speaking shortly after the MOU was signed at the Benue State Peoples House, Governor Samuel Ortom said the initiative was part of his administration’s effort to transform the State using ICT.
He stated that since ICT had become an imperative for development which had turned the world into a global village, the state had no alternative than to fully embrace and exploit its numerous opportunities.
Governor Ortom urged the youths to take advantage of ICT platforms to enhance their means of livelihood, saying it must be used positively for their good and that of the entire Society.
The Governor therefore promised to support the provision of ICT facilities in the state.
The terms of the MOU include general ICT research and development, education, training and empowerment, proposal evaluation and management as well as event management services.
