The immediate past Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, has left the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for a yet to be announced party .

Yuguda, who addressed pressmen on Saturday at a Press Conference through the telephone, said that he was leaving the PDP because of personal reasons and because the party lacked the capacity to bring to Nigerians the development they deserve.

The former Governor stated that as from today (Saturday, April 23, 2016), he has resigned his membership of the PDP because of personal reasons, stressing, “because I have had enough troubles in the party.”

According to him ,”PDP is no longer the party that can give Nigerians the kind of future they are looking for. I have given serious thought to what has been happening in the party, what has happened to me and what has happened also to our country at large and I felt it will only be wise for me to quit the party.

“Looking back at what happened in the country under the PDP, if I continue staying in the party, I will not be fair not only to myself but to my teeming Bauchi supporters who gave me the mandate to serve them for eight years as Governor.”

When pressmen asked where he was speaking from, Yuguda refused to reveal where he was speaking from and refuted claims that he had joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or had resigned totally from politics.

According to him, he was going to rest from politics for a year or for some months before making any move after wide consultations, adding that it was necessary for him to rest having served his fatherland for 35years.

The former Governor stated that his followers were at liberty to remain in the party or also leave “if they see what I have seen.”

He said,”I have neither joined APC and my people have not advised me to do so nor have I quit politics.

“All I am saying is that I will rest for a while and make consultations with my friends and associates, if they ask me to quit politics, I will quit but if they ask me to continue, I will continue”.

Yuguda said he was a fulfilled man having served as a Bank Managing Director for two different banks for nine years, Minister of the Federal Republic for six years and Governor for eight years.

It would be recalled that Yuguda joined the Bauchi State gubernatorial race under the PDP but later dumped it for the then All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP).

After winning the election in May 2007 on the ANPP platform, he decamped back to the PDP on April 14th 2009.
