Gov. Ugwuanyi, Commissioner of Police, Ojukwu, others parley on taming crimes in Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state and top ranking police officers of the State Police Command led by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, held an interactive session at the weekend to handle all the grey areas in the arduous task of taming criminalities in the state.

During the parley, the governor offered all willing police officers the opportunity to bring up all issues of concern to them, including any form of bottleneck militating against small policing to contend with all manner of criminals in the state.

The interactive session held at the Superior Officers’ Mess of the state police command on Agbani Road in Enugu metropolis and was attended by assistant commissioners heading various sections at the police headquarters, the three police area commanders from the three senatorial districts in the state, all divisional police officers(DPOs) from across the state, among others.

The deliberation saw was so successful that the senior officers were applauding Governor Ugwuanyi who came level with all of them as both parties went into details of problems confronting the police command in the state.

The governor while urging the police to rise up to the occasion of containing pockets of criminalities so as to continue to make the state retain its enviable position as one of the safest states in the country commended them for certain feats achieved in a show of effective professional handling of security matters that had broken out at one time or the other in the state.

The state police commissioner, Mr. Ojukwu who hosted the governor and other top government functionaries on the occasion commended the governor for his novel leadership style of coming level with the ordinary people in handling state matters.

“Thank you for helping us to do police work. This is the first time I have seen a governor getting so close to the details of how we do our work. Thank you for your generosity”, said the state police boss in a vote of thanks at the end of the interaction.
