Governor Ahmed gave this assurance when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Indoor Stadium Complex to assess the repair needs of the complex.
Dr Ahmed said the repair was necessitated by the need to upscale the standard of facilities at the Indoor Hall in order to promote sports activities in the State.
Governor Ahmed recalled that the stadium complex had been a hub of sports excellence in the past as many great sportsmen and women who had made Nigeria proud in the past were nurtured at the Ilorin stadium complex.
“Sport is a very important means for occupying youths in order to steer them away from crime and violence. Hence, my administration will leave no stone unturned in restoring the past glory of Kwara State in sports”, the governor said.
Gov. Ahmed was accompanied on the inspection by the Commissioner for Sports, Alhaji Kale Ayo, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Ayo Samuel and others.
The Commissioner for Sports, Alhaji Kanle Ayo commended Governor Ahmed for his positive disposition to the development of Sports in the State.
