Obaseki takes oath of office as Edo State Governor; Gowon, Saraki, Oyegun, Governors present

Former military head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, President of the Senate, Dr. Olubukola Saraki were Saturday among the Several dignitaries that graced the inaugural ceremony of Mr. Godwin Obaseki as Governor of Edo state.
In his maiden message to the people shortly after being sworn in, Obaseki said his administration will among other things consolidate on the achievements of the outgoing government of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
He said there was the need to strength and expand the infrastructure that has been built, adding that there was need for all sons and daughters of Edo state to join in the development of the state.
He further stated that his electoral promise of creating 200,000 jobs is a reality. While urging all concerned citizens of the state to join his government in building a future for Edo State, Obaseki added that his interest will be in Vocational and Technical skills, Agriculture, Civil Service among others.
Obaseki, who also promised to complete all on going projects in state, also asserted that the girl-child will be given an utmost priority to help them showcase their potential.
Among other dignitaries present were the new deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his deputy Dr Pius Odubu as well as the Governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Lagos, Adamawa, Niger, Kaduna and National Chairman of the APC, Chief Chief John Odigie Oyegun.
Others are Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, Senators, members of the House of Representatives, Traditional rulers, market women associations and students’ bodies.
