Another suicide bomb attack was foiled in Maiduguri, as the police, members of Civilian JTF and military intercepted two female and one male suicide bombers trying to infiltrate Maiduguri, the Borno state capital through Polo area.

A member of Civilian JTF, Audu Ibrahim said two female and one male suicide bombers were trying to infiltrate Maiduguri at about 4:00 am but were sighted by their members near Catholic Church Sandbag, where they were halted but refused to stop, while one of the female bombers detonated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on her, killing herself in the process.

“Two female and one male suicide bombers with IEDs strapped on their bodies tried to infiltrate Maiduguri at about 4.00 am this morning when they were halted but refused to stop, then one of the female suicide bombers blew up herself. We pursued and arrested the other female suicide bomber and her male accomplice and handed them to the military”, Ibrahim stated..

He said the Police anti bomb squad have since been deployed to the scene and have defused the strapped bombs on their bodies and combed the area to ensure safety of the area.

A security source from the area who does not want his name in print who confirmed the incident said “yes there was an attempted suicide attack by two female and one Boko Haram suicide bombers trying to enter Maiduguri. Our men halted them but they refused to stop. On sighting our men one of female suicide bombers blew up herself and they pursued and arrested the two remaining suicide bombers.”

Another account has it that a joint security operation intercepted suicide bombers in Borno State.

Three of the suicide Bombers, two female and a male, died from their explosives while another was arrested alive by the security operatives.

No other casualty was recorded from the incidence.

The Spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency North-East Zone, Ibrahim Abdulkadir confirmed that Response Team from the agency and other rescue workers have evacuated the corpses from the scene at High Court Njiddari Polo area of Maiduguri.

Meanwhile it was gathered that the Response Team has been alerted to another explosion along Customs Road, close to Muna Garage in Borno State.
