Rep offers over 6,000 sick people in Tambuwal, Kebbe towns of Sokoto State free treatment for ailments

Over 6,000 people suffering from different ailments are to benefit from the ongoing second phase of medical diagnoses and treatment being provided by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, for the people of his Tambuwal/Kebbe federal constituency of Sokoto State.

Consequently, 100 final year medical students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) have been engaged for the exercise taking place in Dogon Daji and Kuchi towns of Tambuwal local government of Sokoto state.

While the medical students offer free services, Hon. Dasuki has provided drugs, testing equipment and treated mosquito nets free.

The Consultant of the medical outreach, Dr. Muhammad Yahaya, said that the exercise was aimed at providing free diagnoses for all types of illnesses, free drugs while surgery cases are referred to hospitals.

The team leader of the medical students, Jabir Yakubu Imam, said his team were happy to provide free services. “We are always ready to assist any member of the society that is prepared to help the less privileged.”

One of the beneficiaries who praised the initiative said “this will help us who do not have the means to treat our ailments. You can see also that the services do not discriminate against people of other religions or tribes.”

Also, 50 year old Sanusi Abdullahi, who suffers from high blood pressure said, “I was at home when I heard about the free medical care. I have not had money to treat the high blood pressure before now, but today, I am happy that I could access the service, free of charge.”

Hon. Dasuki who said that the first phase of the free medical care services started at Tambuwal and Kebbe would continue until all members of his constituency who were suffering from one ailment or another are treated.

“There are many people in these towns and villages that are suffering from one sickness or another and most of them cannot afford the costs of medical treatment. Government cannot do it alone. It is therefore my responsibility to come in by doing the little I can to assist those that need it”, Dasuki stated.
